Egypt’s imports from China rose during the first ten months of 2016 by 9.2 percent to 67.9 billion Egyptian pounds (around US$3.6 billion) from 62.2 billion pounds a year earlier.
The monthly bulletin of Egypt’s statistics body CAPMAS stated that the Chinese imports to Egypt witnessed a 13.4 percent drop in October 2016 to 13.4 billion pounds opposed to 13.5 billion pounds in October 2015.
Electric machines and appliances seized 22.4 percent of Egypt’s imports from China since they recorded 15.2 billion pounds in January-October 2016 opposed to 12.9 billion pounds at the same period of 2015, making a 17.6 percent growth.
Meanwhile, China’s steel and iron exports to Egypt reached 3.2 billion pounds at the first ten months of 2016 compared to 3.3 billion pounds at the same period of 2015, declining by 4.7 percent, the bulletin pointed out.
