Egypt’s foreign minister and president-designate of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) headed on Sunday to DR Congo attend the first preparatory meeting for the conference (PRECOP27).
PRECOP27 will be hosted by the Congolese capital of Kinshasa on 3 and 4 October with the attendance of more than 50 climate Ministers for a last consultative round ahead of COP27.
The conference will keen on the main issues that will be tackled during COP27 such as, efforts to ease carbon dioxide emissions, climate change adaptation, climate finance and the negative impacts of climate change, ministry’s spokesman said.
Moreover, Minister Sameh Shoukry is expected to attend the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), according to the spokesman.
The meeting comes within the framework of painstaking efforts exerted by Egypt ahead of the global climate conference.
COP27 is scheduled to be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh 6-18 November.
