Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops rise 11pct in 9M

Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops have increased 11 percent to record $3.2 billion pounds from September 2015 until May 2016, compared to $1.6 billion during the same period a year earlier.

Thus the exported crops registered 3.2 million tonnes in 2015/2016 compared to 2.9 million tonnes in 2014/2015 with growth rate of 10 percent.

The Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control report clarified that the exporting season in Egypt starts in September and ends in August of the following year.

The Arab countries seized $889 mln of agricultural crops, topping the list of importers for this sector in the past nine months of 2015/2016 with growth rates of 6.3 percent.

The report also added that the European Union countries has ranked second in crops importers from Egypt list, with imports valued at $487 million between September 2015 and May 2016 with increase 21 percent.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has seized $318 million percent of Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops, topping the list of importers for this sector between September 2015 and May 2016 with increase of 29 percent.

Egypt exports to European Union countries has declined by 5 percent to register $272 million, while, its exports to the African countries has increased by 18 percent to record $13 million.

On the other hand, Egypt’s exports to Russia slumped by 3 percent to register $218 million in comparison with $226 million during the previous season.
