Egypt’s domestic liquidity hits EGP 4.35trn by April end

Egypt’s domestic liquidity grew by 12.7 percent recording 4.489 billion Egyptian pounds from July 2019 to the end of last April to reach 4.353 trillion pounds.

The increase in domestic liquidity was reflected in the growth of quasi-money by 356.9 billion pounds or 12.1 percent and the money supply by 132.5 billion pounds or 14.4 percent, a report released by the CBE showed.

Deposits

Moreover, customer deposits held by the Egyptian banking sector rose by 92 billion pounds to 4.518 pounds trillion in April from 4.426 trillion pounds in March.

Government deposits increased by 50.6 billion pounds to 726.3 billion pounds last April from 675.7 billion pounds  a month earlier.

Loans

In addition, the value of loans provided by banks other than the CBE advanced by 93 billion pounds to2.093 trillion pounds in April from 2 trillion pounds in March.

Credit Facilities

The volume of credit facilities granted by banks increased b 13.9 percent or 258.1 billion pounds to 2.112 trillion pounds from July 2019 to last April.

Credit facilities provided by banks to non-government bodies reached EGP 157.1 billion, while those provided to the government stood at 101 billion pounds
