Egypt’s annual headline inflation  steadied at 4.9 percent during February, compared to 6.8% a month earlier and 13.9% in February 2019, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced.

The consumer price index (CPI) for February held steady from the previous month at 105.2 points, data showed.

The stability in inflation rate was ascribed to a drop in prices of vegetables, other food products, fruits, fish, and clothing and shoes by 5.4 percent, 0.9 percent, 0.3 percent, 0.2 percent, and 1.3 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the prices of meat and poultry, dairy products and eggs, grains and bread, as well as hotels and restaurants rose by 1.9 percent, 0.9 percent, 0.3 percent, and 0.7percent, in that order.
