Egypt’s airports have seen massive losses worth around 696 million Egyptian pounds ($43 million) during the past three months because of the falloff in travel demand due to the coronavirus outbreak, an official announced on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Mohamed Saeed Mahrous, chairperson of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN), said Cairo Airport had estimated losses at 461 million pounds.

Losses incurred by the Egyptian Airports Company and the National Navigation Company were estimated at 127 million pounds and 93 million pounds, respectively, Mahrous added.
