Egypt will implement a plan with investments exceeding 75 billion Egyptian pounds ($4.7 billion) to improve electric grids nationwide within 2020, said Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker on Monday.
In statements to Nile TV channel on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh, Shaker pointed to an annual programme at the Electricity Ministry to train African engineers, saying that more than 8,000 engineers have been trained so far.
The Egyptian minister said the country has electricity linkages with Jordan, Libya, and Sudan, adding that the country probes exchanging electric power with Saudi Arabia at a capacity of around 3,000 megawatts.
