Egypt’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.3 percent in July-September, down 0.5 percent from the same period in 2019,according to state statistics agency CAPMAS
The volume of the labor force dipped recorded 7.3 percent in the third quarter registering 2,061 million individuals, compared to 2,574 million individuals during Q2.
The fall in unemployment rate was ascribed to the return of business activities with the gradual lifting of the coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
The urban labour force registered 12.429 million, while rural labour force reached 15.742 million.
Male employees amounted to 23.688 million, whereas female employees stood at 4.483 million.
Unemployment had risen to 9.6 percent in April-June this year due to the economic impact of the coronavirus, CAPMAS added.
