Egypt plans to issue its Japanese yen-denominated Samurai bonds at the end of the current financial year 2021/2022, said deputy finance minister Ahmed Kouchouk on Tuesday.

In February, Egypt selected six international banks to manage the sale of its first sovereign Islamic bonds worth $2 billion, likely to take place in the second quarter of 2022.  The lenders include Citigroup, HSBC Holdings, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Credit Agricole, Emirates NBD Bank and First Abu Dhabi Bank.
