Egypt is set to export solar power to Europe and the United Kingdom from a new project under development now, the Telegraph reported on Friday.
The project is a 3.7 billion euro project and is jointly developed by the Greek company Copelouzos and the Egyptian company Infinity.
Infinity is Egypt’s largest renewable energy provider.
The project is set to generate about 10 gigawatts of power, which is equivalent to around ten UK power stations.
Around third of the electricity will be transferred from Egypt to Greece via a 600-mile undersea cable, and the rest will be transferred to markets across Europe and the UK.
Details about the infrastructure project will be discussed in an energy summit in London next week.
