Egypt to establish two cloud hosting centres at $20mln, minister

The cost of establishing two cloud hosting centres for the holding companies affiliated to the Ministry of Public Business Sector is estimated at $20 million over 5 years, according to the Egyptian Minister of Public Business Sector, Hisham Tawfik.

He told Amwal Al Ghad that the two new centres will benefit 2500 users and it will be costing $ 4 million a year.

The Egyptian Minister of Public Business Sector, Hisham Tawfik, witnessed the signing of a contract of the first cloud hosting centre with Fiber Misr, a subsidiary of Benya Holding, and Vodafone Egypt to implement the third phase of the digital transformation project.

The deal was signed by the Chairman of Metallurgical Industries Holding Co, Mohamed El-Saadawy, on behalf of the holding companies affiliated to the Ministry of Public Business Sector, the Chairman and CEO of Benya Holding, Ahmed Mekky, and the CEO of Vodafone Egypt, Mohamed Abdullah.

Fiber Misr will provide the technical support, while Vodafone manage and host the system at its data centre through a secure and closed electronic cloud for 15 companies affiliated to the Ministry of Public Business Sector.

Under the digital transformation project, 63 companies affiliated to the ministry will see their infrastructure and management improved at a cost of $50 million.
