Egypt is set to build a plant to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in partnership with US-based conglomerate Honeywell, said Minister of Petroleum on Friday.
This came after a meeting between the Egyptian minister Tarek El Molla and Honeywell executives in Cairo on Friday.
The minister told the executives that the Ministry launched a feasibility study for the project, set to produce around 120,000 tonnes per year.
Local press reported that the Northern Mediterranean port of Alexandria might be the base for the new plant.
In 2021, the president of Honeywell International for Egypt and North Africa, Khaled Hashem, said the firm will invest around $200 million in petrochemicals and green fuel production for airplanes in Egypt.
