Egypt starts trading sugar on commodities exchange

by Nada Ali

Egypt’s commodities exchange invited companies to register to trade sugar on the bourse starting from Thursday’s session, exchange head Ibrahim Ashmawy said in a statement on Wednesday.

The move was in line with a government mandate “to regulate the markets of strategic and basic commodities,” Ashmawy added. The country has strategic reserves of sugar to cover consumption until the spring of 2024.
