Egypt has signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Spain in field of transportation. The signing ceremony was in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who is visiting Spain from April 29-30 as part of his tour to Europe.
Egyptian Minister of Transportation Hani Dahy has signed the MOU with his Spanish counterpart.
Upon the MoU, Egypt and Spain have agreed to cooperate in two transportation projects, the high-speed train between Hurghada and Luxor in addition to Cairo underground’s fifth and sixth lines, Minister Dahy noted.
He further added that Spain would send a delegation to Cairo in the coming month to activate the MOUs that signed today.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi was invited to visit Spain during his meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister José García-Margallo y Marfil Dec. 27, 2014 in Cairo.
Sisi’s visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties with Spain; Spanish investments in Egypt have exceeded €700 million (US$784 million) in the fields of gas, cement, renewable energy, automotive industry, and railroads.
