The Transport Ministry and the Spanish Consultative Office have agreed to determine the path of the Hurghada- Luxor express train after the signing of a memorandum of understanding during President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s recent visit to Madrid.
Transport Minister Hani Dahi said this is the first feasibility study for the path of an express train, which will run for a length of 180 kilometers to connect the tourist sites in the Red Sea to the archaeological areas in Luxor. The trip will take only 35 minutes. He pointed out that the talks with their Spanish counterparts included discussions on how to prepare the required studies and projects concerned with the train.
The Spaniards suggested the transfer of the company’s expertise to the Egyptian authorities and companies operating in the transportation field. Work groups between the two sides have been formed to discuss joint cooperation in the field of railways and tunnels, Dahi said.
