Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate rose by 0.1 percent month-on-month (MoM) to 110.3 points in February to record an increase of 4.9 percent, according the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The rise in inflation rate was ascribed to higher prices of tobacco by 1.6 percent, house rentals by 0.4 percent,, and ready-made meals by 0.2 percent,, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Wednesday.
On the other hand, the prices of vegetables fell by 2.5 percent, organised travel trips by 2 percent,, newspapers, books, and stationary by 1.6 percent,, and ready-made garments by 1.1 percent,.
On an annual basis, the consumer price index (CPI) stabilised at 4.9 percent in February.
