Egypt reported 269 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, its highest in a single day, bringing its overall nationwide tally to 5,537, according to a health ministry statement.
The new cases – including three foreigners – have been detected through the ministry’s investigation and contact tracing protocols in accordance with the World Health Organisation’s guidelines, the statement read.
The country also confirmed 12 new fatalities due to the virus, taking the toll to 392. But 46 more patients recovered, for a total of 1, 381 recoveries, health ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said.
