Egypt has signed a Japanese grant worth one billion yen, which is equivalent to 9.5 million US dollars, to support the health sector for the COVID-19 pandemic and for the procurement of medical equipment.
Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, signed the grant agreement with H.E Masaki Noke, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The grant will be used to provide devices and medical supplies for fever and chest hospitals belonging to the Ministry of Health.
The new grant comes within the current framework of strategic cooperation between Egypt and Japan, which prioritizes sectors that include energy, health, transport, tourism and education to ensure that pandemic does not derail efforts in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
