Egypt has on Sunday received a second batch of medical aid from China to help it fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese embassy in Cairo announced in a statement.
China’s medical aid, which weighed an estimated 4.7 tonnes, includes 10,000 N95 respiration masks, 10,000 protective gowns, and 70,000 PCR testing kits, according to the statement.
“Egypt and China are good friends. China supports Egypt’s efforts in combating the virus, which we are sure Egypt will combat soon,” Chinese Ambassador Liao Liqian said in the statement.
In April, Egypt received a four-tonne batch of medical supplies from China.
Earlier in March, Egypt sent China a shipment of medical supplies, as part of delegation headed by Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed.
“Egypt has provided firm support to China in a crucial stage for its fight against coronavirus. Now, China has contained the epidemic and has provided aid to Egypt to the best of its ability to return the favour,” Liqiang said.

Liqiang said the third batch of Chinese medical aid will arrive in Egypt soon.
“China will provide further aid to Egypt in the future,”
