Egypt has launched the Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, in cooperation with the World Bank, said the Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat on Monday.
The announcement came during al-Mashat participation in an event organised by the World Bank (WB) on Monday, with the participation of Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad, and the British Ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley.
CCDR identifies opportunities to reduce inefficiencies, manage risk, and strengthen the foundation for increased private-sector participation, as it offers a set of policy options and investment opportunities, al-Mashat said.
If these opportunities have implemented within five years, it can deliver short-term benefits in selected sectors while also creating momentum toward important long-term benefits, she further added.
CCDR aims to help countries prioritise the most impactful actions that can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and boost adaptation, while delivering on broader development goals
It also conducts a comprehensive analysis of the economic situation in Egypt and focuses on the sectors of water, agriculture, energy, transportation, industry, and resilient coastal cities.
