Egyptian and Jordanian chambers of commerce agreed on establishing a logistics centre in Jordan, the head of Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FECC) Ahmed El-Wakil announced.
El-Wakil explained that the new center will be established in Jordan’s Mafraq Governorate bordering Iraq and Syria, and will include storage facilities and a zone for customs’ clearance.
“The center will be run by a holding company in which the federations will partner directly with industry players and an international company specializing in managing logistics centers. This public-private shareholding structure will allow for revenue sharing”, El-Wakil explained.
The move comes as part of an Egypt-Jordan-Iraq plan to cooperate on manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and the post-war reconstruction of Iraq and Syria.
