Egypt has opened on Friday the biggest conference centre in Alexandria, the second biggest city of the North African country.

As a part of a plan to launch major integrated development projects in the country, the new centre includes 12 hall meetings and a main hall that can accommodate up to 3000 visitors, Mohamed Khodair said, chairman of the General Egyptian for Investments (GAFI), said.

Khodair further said that GAFI is determined to carry out the state’s developmental vision for 2030, by attracting local and foreign investments amidst plans to balance between achieving economic growth and social justice.

Conferences have become a vital tool to stimulate economy, particularly Egypt’s tourism sector as tourism trips to attend events represent more than 15 percent of the total volume of international tourism, Khodair said.

The Egyptian official explained that the Ministry of Investment would help any investor seeking to participate in the country’s development plan.
