Egypt Government Mulls Securing EGP18bn for Metro Line 3’s Phase IV

Egypt’s government is studying to contribute EGP 18 billion to implement the fourth phase of Cairo Metro Third Line project.

According to the Chairman of National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) Ismail El-Nagdy, the Egyptian government will issue its final decision to finance the fourth phase by end of next August.

The authorities in Egypt are willing to immediately start the implementation process of the fourth phase within next October, he noted.

The project will run from Heliopolis district, to complete its path toward Cairo International Airport. With a total length of 15.8 km, the fourth phase will include 10 stations; namely Haroun, Heliopolis square, Alf Maskan, Shams Club, Nozha 1, Nozha 2, Qiba, Omar Ibn Al Khattab, El-Salam, 10th of Ramadan Station, and Airport.

Cairo Metro, the first metro network in Africa, has been operational since 1990. The network consists of two lines, and a further two are planned.
