Egypt has allocated 236 million Egyptian pounds ($15.1 million) to support the National Organisation for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage’s (NOPWASD) plan to provide electricity to Bahr El-Baqar wastewater treatment plant.
The world’s largest sewage water treatment plant will produce 5 million cubic metres per day to cultivate 330,000 feddans in East Suez Canal, in addition to 70,000 feddans currently being cultivated, Minister of Planning Hala al-Saeed said.
The 190-kilometre drain of Bahr El-Baqar extends from South Cairo, passing through Qaliubiya, Sharkia, Ismailia, Dakahlia, and Port Said.
