The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Shell have signed a MoU on Saturday to establish a framework for managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the operations of all EGAS’s partners.
This agreement came in a framework of a seven MoU between the petroleum and gas sector and a number of global companies in the field of sustainability and emissions reduction at the United Nations Cop27 Climate Summit.
“We are very proud to cooperate with EGAS in this initiative, especially since Shell has global experience in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and has already contributed to several decarbonisation projects in Egypt,” said Shell chairman, Khaled Kassem.
Kassem added that, “we have always been Egypt’s partners and are committed to supporting the state’s efforts in its process to transform the country into a regional energy hub and support its aspirations to decarbonise the petroleum sector.”
The MoU was signed by Magdy Galal, the executive director of EGAS with Khaled Kassem, Shell chairman in Egypt.
