Dubai-based Eye of the World Foundation and Cairo-based Hendaza Real Estate said on Monday they are investing 500 million Egyptian pounds ($29 million) to establish a medical centre in Egypt’s new capital.
Dubbed as Medical Care, the project will be the first medical centre in Egypt’s anticipated new capital.
Speaking at Cityscape Egypt Conference in Cairo, Eye of the World’s chairman Mohamed Hendy said his company seeks in cooperation with Hendaza to increase their investments in Egypt’s medical and real estate sectors to around 2 billion pounds in the coming three years.
The medical centre will be built over 3,600 square metres, comprising of four hospitals, 120 clinics, and specialised sub-centres, said Hendaza’s vice chairman Ismail Ahmed. It is set to provide a number of medical services, including radiology, diagnostic, physical therapy, and emergency centres along with a pharmacy, he added.
The emergency centre will serve the workers and employees working in the new capital, Ahmed said.
Located 45 kilometres east of Cairo, between the Cairo-Suez and Cairo-Ain Sokhna roads, a fully-fledged city is rising from the ground. Egypt’s new administrative capital is an ambitious project; its official goal is to offer Egyptians a better quality of life and relieve congestion from Cairo, its ageing capital that is forecasted to reach 40 million inhabitants by 2050.
