CPA, Al Menya University Sign Cooperation Protocol

Egypt’s Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) has signed a cooperation protocol with Faculty of Engineering, Al Menya University, in order to have technical examination, tests and engineering consultations over the cars’ complaints. This is according to the items of Law 67/2006, which concerns consumer protection, in the framework of the authority’s role in implementing law and implanting the rules and criteria necessary for maintain the consumer’s rights and harnessing markets.

Atef Yacoub, Chairman of Consumer Protection Agency, explained that by this protocol the consumer will get 70% of the examination value, and the authority doesn’t receive any return from the consumers over the complaints submitted by them or the procedures taken for them. The protocol came due to provide facilities for the consumers in Upper Egypt.

Yacoub referred to the necessity of the car for the Egyptian consumer, as it considers the second after the housing investment, so it necessary to consider it and protect the consumer’s right. He pointed to the formation of a specialized technical committee that includes numerous experts and specialists in the field, in order to implement the law as a kind of protecting the consumer’s rights.

He added that the cooperation protocol with the Faculty of Engineering, Al Menya, is the third one after Ain Shams and Helwan Universities.
