Coca-Cola Co has recently spent around $500 million on upgrading the infrastructure of its factories in Egypt, general manager of Coca-Cola Egypt said on Monday.

The investments are part of Coca-Cola’s strategy to develop a sustainable work environment in its factories worldwide, Ahmed Rady further told Amwal Al Ghad.

“Coca-Cola is heavily investing in Egypt as evidenced by growing its businesses and boosting its strong presence as it opened 8 new factories in Cairo, Nile Delta, Alexandria, and Port Said, which in return contributed to creating 1,000 jobs,” Rady said.

“Coca-Cola aims to deepen its engagement in Egypt’s sustainable development strategy … the company plans to invest around half a billion dollars in the country in the next three years,”

The company is in talks with several non-governmental organisations in Egypt to start implementing ‘serious’ projects designed to achieve sustainable development and social welfare, Rady added.
