City Edge donates EGP 10 mln to Tahya Misr Fund amid coronavirus

Egypt’s real estate developer, City Edge says it is donating 10 million Egyptian pounds ($633,376) to Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt) Fund to support the government’s efforts to combat coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

“City Edge’s contribution in the Tahya Misr Fund comes within the framework of its strong belief in the necessity of solidarity with the Egyptian community, people and government, in fighting coronavirus, which needs joint efforts between various institutions, whether governmental or a private sector as well as civil society,” announced City Edge’s chairman Ashraf Salman on Tuesday.

Consequently, the company’s board of directors decided to participate with the Egyptian state in its unremitting efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, Salman  further told Daily news.

Tamer Abdel Fattah, Acting Executive Director of the Tahya Misr Fund, stressed the importance of participating in times of crisis, praising the role of many businessmen, companies, public figures and artists in supporting the fund’s efforts. He added than this reflected positively on the size of the contributions in the fund, whether in cash or in-kind donations.

He added that the banking sector under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt, has contributed effectively as the banking sector is a strategic partner in the various activities of the fund since its establishment.

Abdel Fattah pointed out that the fund is an umbrella for social responsibility projects done in collaboration and coordination among various associations and NGOs, to ensure the rationalisation and delivery of available resources to eligible families, in addition to providing them with various means of support and care.
