Christmas festivities canceled in Syria in solidarity with Gaza

by Nada Ali

The main churches in Syria, including the Syriac Catholic Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox, and Melkite Greek Catholic patriarchs, have cancelled Christmas festivities in solidarity with Palestinians suffering war in Gaza.

“Given the current circumstances, especially in Gaza, the patriarchs apologise for not receiving Christmas and New Year greetings,” leaders of the three major churches in Syria said.

Gazans have been compelled to be forcibly displaced due to the ongoing aggression, heading to overcrowded shelters or tents, where access to essentials such as food, fuel, water, and medical care is challenging.
