Tourism revenue in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region increased by 62.33 per cent to about 2.2 billion yuan (about $310 million), during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, Xinhua reported on Sunday.
This increase is driven by 2.21 million tourists, a 20.53 per cent year-on-year growth, according to the report.
The region introduced diverse cultural and tourism events, combining sightseeing with local customs, sports, and fruit-picking activities to attract tourists.
Over 300 cultural and tourism activities will be organised from April to June, with more than 80 preferential policies such as reduced admission fees and discounts on dining and accommodation.
