Hebei Steel Group, China’s biggest steelmaker by output, is considering building an iron plant in Egypt’s Red Sea port of Ain Sokhna.

The plant will be built on a vast area of land plot, said Mohamed Shabaan – vice chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) – after receiving an official delegation of the Chinese group on Wednesday.

The delegation – who visited the site of SCZone – reviewed the licencing procedures and requirements of feasibility and financial studies on the plant project, Shabaan added.
