China-Egypt trade exchange 14.5% up in five months – report

Trade exchange between Egypt and China increased 14.5 percent during  first five months of 2019, recording $5.3 billion compared to $4.5 billion in the comparable period.

According to The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) bulletin Trade volume between the two countries increased in May to $ 990.666 million compared to $954.16 million during the same month a year earlier with an increase of 3.7 percent.

China seized  15.3 percent share of the Egyptian imports  between January and  May of the current year.

Egypt imported from China mainly, electric appliances and their spare parts worth $1.3 billion, 31.2 percent growth from $1.06 billion.

Egypt’s imports of iron and steel-steel products from China during January-May 2019increased to $ 269.534 million compared to $ 167.936 million in the comparable period with a growth rate of 60.5 percent.

However, The value of Egyptian exports to China decreased during the first five months of 2019 registering  $ 325.109 million compared to $ 461.699 million  during the same period of 2018, a declining by 29.6 percent, while it rose during May 2019 by 48.8% to record $ 39.169 million against $ 26.321 million.
