The BBC censored actor Amir El Masry’s ceasefire speech during their coverage of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Scotland on Sunday.
While presenting the award for Best Actress at the BAFTA Scotland, the actor seized the opportunity to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
However, in the BBC’s iPlayer coverage, the speech in its entirety was removed.
Also removed were calls for a ceasefire made by Eilidh Munro, director of ‘A Long Winter’, which won the Short Film & Animation award.
El Masry shared his full speech on Instagram story saying “just found out BBC edited out the beginning of my intro,”
He took to instagram to urge people to speak up against the horrendous acts committed against the Palestinian people.
