Asfour Crystal International’s exports have reached around 151.5 million Egyptian pounds (US$18.8 million) during January-August 2015, leading the list of Egypt’s most exporters of glass products.
According to the report released by the Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council (CEC) Monday, Asfour Crystal has seized 28.5 percent of glass and mirrors sector’s total exports.
The report stated that the company has achieved exports estimated at 19 million pounds in August 2015.
Asfour Crystal is an Egyptian crystal manufacturing company that produces crystal pieces under its own name.
It is the world’s largest manufacturer and exporter of crystal, having a production capacity that exceeds 100 tons of crystal per day and exporting to more than 50 countries across the globe.
During the first eight months of 2015, the volume of Egypt’s exports of glass products has dropped 22 percent since it has recorded around 704.3 million pounds opposed to 901.7 million pounds at the same period of 2014, the report clarified.
Following Asfour Crystal, Misr Glass Manufacturing Company (MGM) was the second largest exporter whose exports hit 128.2 million pounds at the end of August 2015 then City Glass Group with exports estimated at around 59.3 million pounds.
The report showed that the exports of Middle East Glass Manufacturing Company (MEG) hit around 41.2 million pounds.
The report further showed that Sudan has captured 23 percent of Egypt’s glass products exports within the first eight months of 2015 with exports worth 105.5 million pounds followed by Lebanon that exported Egyptian glass products worth 59.7 million then China with exports worth 49.8 million pounds and Turkey with exports estimated at 42.8 million pounds.
