American Airlines have reached a preliminary deal on Friday with its pilots for a new four-year labor contract, after months of negotiations, boosting their pay 21 percent, said the Allied Pilots Association (APA).
The APA, which represents 13,000 pilots at the American Airlines, agreed to complete contractual language prior to presenting the contract to its board to be approved.
American Airlines did specify the contract value, however, it agreed to provide pay and profit sharing, matching the top carrier, and improved quality of life provisions.
The agreement also included a 21 percent pay raise in 2023, a five percent raise in 2024, a four percent a year during the following two years of the deal, and a three percent raise in 2027.
The deal lasting for four years, with pay rates matching those of Delta Air Lines. The contract includes scheduling improvements, which will help pilots reach a better work-life balance.
