Africa captures 22% of Egypt’s chemical industries exports

The African market accounts for 22 percent  of Egypt’s chemical industries total exports, registering  $ 1.2 billion last year, according to Khaled Abu Al-Makarem, Chairperson of the Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council.

The total value of the exports of  Egypt’s chemical industries stood at $5 billion during 2019, he added.

He pointed out that the chemical industries sector aims to increase Egyptian exports to African markets during the next stage by activating the system of missions and trade weeks and establishing permanent exhibitions for Egyptian products in these markets.

Abul-Makarem added that three African countries account for two-thirds of Egyptian exports into African markets, namely Kenya, Ethiopia and Nigeria, pointing out that the sector aims to implement a comprehensive strategy to increase its exports to 18 African countries during the upcoming period
