The African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) has signed on Saturday a memorandum of understanding with the International Centre for Regional Integration and Trade Research (ICRITR) during the third edition of IATF 2023 taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
ICRITR is a centre that seeks to build capacity, conduct research and consulting which carries out research studies and consultancy.
It also implements human capacity building working with regional economic communities and regional and continental trade organisations to strengthen capacity within the continent on international trade and build the next generation of African trade experts and practitioners who would facilitate intra-African trade and investment under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and catalyse industrialisation in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The MoU aims to provide a framework for collaboration between the parties to facilitate ground-breaking research and capacity building to drive Africa’s progress in regional integration and trade.
The ICRITR will be an opportunity for the academia to play a vital role in driving and shaping the trade and regional economic integration discourse and support relevant governments to formulate and implement trade, industrial and economic policies and frameworks which would drive a truly African trade and economic integration agenda.
