The Agriculture Export Council (AEC) has called on the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade to make a third bid for exporting rice during February, on account of the surplus of the domestic production of rice, which should be oriented to the global market.
For his part, Magdi Al Waliliy, Deputy of Rice Committee, at Agricultural Export Council (AEC), has told “Amwal Al Ghad” that making the third bid is necessary, especially after failing to export 70.000 tons of rice out of the total amount during the second bid due to the turmoil as well as ending the legal period for getting out the necessary licenses.
Since lifting ban on exporting rice in October 2012 till January 2013, the exports of rice recorded EGP 609 million, at an average of EGP 4200 per ton.
