Egypt’s Investment Minister Sahar Nasr met in London on Friday with a number of officials from British companies to discuss investment opportunities available in the North African country.
Nasr is heading a door-knock mission to the UK, which was organised by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) to discuss bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two countries during a three-day visit from November 27 to 29.
“British investments in Egypt recorded $47.8 billion,” the Egyptian minister said, adding that there are 1,817 British companies currently operating in the Egyptian market.
The minster also discussed the Egyptian government’s keenness to improve its investment climate to encourage more British companies invest in Egypt, notably the Suez Canal axis project within the upcoming period.
The mission included Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of International Cooperation and Investment Sahar Nasr, and Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir, besides Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
