Egypt imposes import fees on rebar, iron billets for 3Yrs

Egypt has imposed temporary import fees of 16 percent on iron billets and 25 percent on steel rebar for three years, the trade and industry ministry said on Friday.

The ministry said an investigation had concluded that a rise in imports was hurting the local industry. The duties will take effect on Saturday.

Egypt had already imposed temporary import fees in April, of 15 percent on iron billets and 25 percent on steel rebar for 180 days.
