Egypt is Brazil’s 11-largest importer, receiving exports worth $2.1 billion in 2018, Brazilian Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias said on Sunday.
Brazil’s top exports to Egypt were mainly live animals – cows – in addition to sugar and corn. These three products covered 75 percent of Brazil’s total exports to the Egyptian market, Dias spoke at the Egyptian-Brazilian Business Forum taking place in Cairo.
She added that the free trade agreement between Egypt and Mercosur countries had recently raised the amount of goods – mostly food commodities – exempted from customs.
The Brazilian government is seeking to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt in the coming period, Dias said.
