Egypt’s textile exports declined 6 percent to register $502 million during the first half of the year from $534 million last year.
Textile exports edged down in July 2019 to $74 million compared to $81 million in July 2018, with a 9 percent decrease, according to the latest bulletin by the Textiles, Apparel, and Home Textiles Export Council.
The Egyptian textile exports stabilised at $218 million in the first quarter, while it fell 11 percent in the second quarter to record $210 million, compared with $236 million in the second quarter of 2018.
Ten countries accounted for 76.9 percent of the value of Egypt textile exports during the first 7 months. Turkey was on the top of the list, receiving Egyptian exports worth $174 million, followed by Italy with $78 million, then Algeria of $42 million.
Egypt’s exports of textile to the Saudi market rose to $16 million from $10 million a year earlier, with a growth of 53 percent.
