U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the great meeting on Monday with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
“Great meeting this morning with President Sisi of Egypt at the Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz, France!,” Trump said in a tweet.
Trump said that Egypt has made great progress under the leadership of Sisi.
According to Al-Ahram Arabic news website, Trump told the media he always looks forward to meeting with President Sisi.
Trump added that Sisi’s efforts were important for the stability of the Middle East.
“Egypt presented already a great performance under the commandership of President Sisi,” the U.S. president said.
Sisi discussed with Trump developments in the war on terrorism. Trump praised Sisi’s efforts to promote the principles of religious tolerance and freedom of worship in Egypt, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement on the meeting.
The Egyptian president wrapped up his activities on the sidelines of the G7 summit with a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday.
