Egypt’s trade deficit falls 24.6% in May – CAPMAS

Egypt’s trade deficit dropped 24.6 percent year-on-year to $3.34 billion in May, the state-owned statistics agency CAPMAS said on Tuesday.

Exports rose 1.6 percent to $2.68 billion due to an increase in fertilizers, ready-made garments, and plastics exports, CAPMAS said.

Meanwhile, imports slipped 14.8 percent to $6.01 billion, in light of a decline in imports of steal, plastics, chemicals.
