Egypt’s Ambassador to Russia Ihab Nasr and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov held a briefing session on Saturday with African ambassadors in Moscow to discuss the arrangements for the first Russia-Africa summit, to be held in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi on October 24.
Nasr and Bogdanov said that the summit marks a unique event in the history of Russian-African relations, and will lay the foundations for developing Russian-African relations.
During the briefing session, Nasr highlighted the important issues to will be discussed in the summit.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan, discussing preparations for the African-Russian summit and working towards crystallizing practical results of the summit for the benefit of Africa’s people, in a bid to forge a framework for sustainable partnership and cooperation between Russia and Africa.
