Public Transport Authority’s Port Said Garage Workers Hold Strike

by Administrator

A number of workers of Public Transport Authority’s Port Said Garage have held a strike because they were not given the right to receive the end-of-service bonus after the merger of Greater Cairo Bus Company and Public Transport Authority.

Tareq Al-Baheiry, spokesman for the Independent Syndicate of Public Transport Authority Workers, said Moustafa Abdel Hamid, the head of Public Transport Authority, and Gamal Ramadan, former vice president of the State Council and legal consultant to the Authority, affirmed that the workers of Greater Cairo Bus Company have the right to receive the end-of-service bonus.

Al-Baheiry said the workers will resume partial strike in Port Said Garage until the Authority announces that the workers of Greater Cairo Bus Company have the right to receive the end-of-service bonus.

Workers of the Public Transport Authority will hold a complete strike by the beginning of the academic year as they demand an increase in the salary increment of up to 7%, instead of 3%, an increase of meal allowance to EGP 300 and an increase in bonuses to 300%, if the authority is still not affiliated to the Transportation Ministry.
