Egypt’s industrial production (without extraction and refining of crude oil) surged 27.6 percent to 185.3 billion Egyptian ($10.9 billion) during the third quarter of 2018, said the state-run statistics agency CAPMAS on Sunday.
Earlier, industrial production registered 145.3 billion pounds during the third quarter of 2017.
“Iron and steel, precious metals, and metal casting industries captured the lion’s share of the industrial production to reach 20.8 percent of in the third quarter of 2018, followed by food industries by 16.1 percent then chemical, and fertilizers industries by 15.5 percent,” CAPMAS said.
Chemical industries production increased 94.4 percent to 28.8 percent during the third quarter last year against 14.8 billion pounds during the same period in 2017.
