Egypt’s Transport Minister, Russian-Hungarian consortium discuss 1,300 rail cars deal

Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir on Thursday held a meeting with a delegation from Russian-Hungarian consortium Transmashholding-Hungary Kft to discuss the measures taken to put into effect a contract to supply Egypt with 1,300 new passenger rail cars.

The meeting was attended by Russian ambassador in Cairo Sergei Kirpichenko.

El-Wazir said the railway deal is the largest in Egyptian history, noting that it will constitute a giant leap for the sector.

The two sides discussed the financial terms of the contract, which is being implemented in cooperation with the the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation.
