Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Tuesday with the country’s newly appointed Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki, and Minister of Transportation Hesham Arafat to discuss a number of domestic issues.

Egypt’s presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said the president received a report from Transportation Minister Arafat on the progress of the national roads project, as well as the ongoing efforts to develop road and bridge networks across the country.

The minister briefed El-Sisi about developments in Egypt’s railway project and the first phase of Cairo’s fourth metro line, which is set to extend 42 kilometres from Sixth of October City in Giza to El-Rehab City on the Cairo-Suez road.

Last week, a new cabinet, headed by the PM Madbouly, were sworn in before President Sisi.

The new Cabinet includes 12 new ministers out of a total of 32, including for the ministries of interior and defence as well as some service ministries.

Arafat remained in his post as transportation minister, while Mohamed Zaki replaced Sedqy Sobhi as minister of defence.
